100 follower giveaway

Hello lovelies!

I've been sitting at over 100 followers on Facebook for awhile, but my blog took awhile to catch up. Last night I hit that milestone! Yay! *confetti*.  So this one is for you all of you! Thank you so much. I never thought I'd have this many followers. I appreciate each and every one of you.

I loove purple. It's second on my list of colors behind pink. So this is a very purple-rific giveaway.  Up for grab are THREE brand NEW polishes: Zoya Mira, OPI Purple with a Purpose and Julep Melissa.

Mira is a Blue toned medium purple with dusty lavender tones and an opaque cream finish.  For a muted yet colorful purple that isn't too dark.

Easter Skittles

I've been wanting to do pastel skittles for awhile. I just didn't have the right pink until April's Julep box. The Maven's must have read my mind!

I've been trying all sorts of different types of nail art. I think for Easter Sunday I'm going to stamp. But for the week leading up to it water decals and such.

Here's my rendition of Easter. AKA "It looks like Easter exploded on your nails."

I found these water decals on Ebay. They are really cute and easy to use.

The colors. L-R: China Glaze Refresh-min, Color Club Take me to your Chateau, Ulta Cream of the Crop, Essie Lilacism, China Glaze Sun Worshiper, Julep Penelope.

Hand painted baby chicks!

Right hand (OMG non-dominant!) I had some small multicolored pearls (Ebay again) that I thought would make awesome eggs.

Julep Mystery Box : St. Patrick's Day!

I'm quite happy with this month's mystery box. I think I got a good one, though I didn't go and calculate the price range. I think that ruins the excitement of it a bit.

It was supposed to be here March 21st, but it arrived yesterday (March 19th). I'd have loved to have gotten it before St. Patrick's day, but I'm not going to complain too much about the date I received it.

Julep Taylor

Another quick Julep swatch while I'm at it.

Remember Taylor from my V-day box?

Deep, sky blue crème.  Somewhere between periwinkle and denim funky, but not too flashy
This is what she looks like swatched. She's gorrrgeous.

Julep Melissa and Brooke

In my last post I mentioned Julep Melissa. I'm still on the fence about it. Then Brooke arrived (from the Classic with a Twist box). Since they are similar in application (used with dark undies) I decided to make this post about both of them.

From Julep.com

Melissa is a sheer opalescent shimmer adds a soft glow when used alone and a high-fashion holographic effect when used over another color.

In the bottle and on camera Melissa looks like a white milky color, but in person she has quite a bit of a pearly green shine too it. I was intrigued enough that I couldn't wait to swatch it.

I painted one of my wheel nails half black and half naked to see how it would look.

This is how it turned out. Over black it almost has a foil finish to it.

Julep Melissa over black

I think I like it better over a lighter color than dark, though both are very interesting looking.

Next is Brooke which I absolutely adore.

Brooke is a sheer shimmery purple. Use alone or over another shade to add a modern twist.

Look at Brooke sparkle!

I'll let the swatch speak for me. It's a lovely amethyst topper. I did the same half/half on the nail wheel. Excuse the streaking I was anxious and didn't let the nail try completely.

Julep Brooke over black

All told I would love to try Portia and Emma. Emma is a seashell pink that would go on like Melissa. Portia is a gorgeous tropical blue with a shine like Brooke.

March Julep Box

Finally they're here! I was one of the unforunate people who had the infamous shipping issue. I watched while everyone around me got their boxes, but no box for me!

That changed today, obviously. :)

I switched from Bombshell to It Girl for this month, and I am happy with my choice.

Here are lovely photos of the box!

Julep Melissa. I'm really interested in seeing how this one goes on.

Review: Julep Pomegranate Scrub

I recived the Julep Pomegrantte Scrub in my Valentine's Day Julep box. I wanted to test it out cause it looked interesting. It has the quality of a sugar scrub. Grainy without being abrasive. It smelled wonderful and I am always on the lookout for new products that can help me beat the winter dry-skin blues.

This scrub retails on the Julep website for $18.00. I decided to test this on my hands first.

From the site:

Exfoliate and moisturize in one simple step. Anti-oxidant pomegranate extract and hydrating Shea butter salt scrub will refine, brighten, tone and heal. Your skin will be soft and radiant from head to toe.

The Verdict:

I really wanted to like this product.

I don't. It leaves behind this waxy build-up/feeling. Even after washing my hands the feeling persisted, and I went insane trying to get it off my hands.

This is after using hand-soap. Can you see the water beading on my skin? I could not imagine using this on any other part of my body.

This is a dud. I can find much better/cleaner feeling products for much cheaper.
